The appointment is quick. The removal is gradual.

Most appointments take around 25 minutes. The longer part happens between them while your body clears the broken down ink and your skin recovers. Here is what to expect.

What actually happens.

The laser targets the tattoo pigment and breaks the ink into much smaller particles. Your body then clears those particles away naturally over the weeks that follow.

01

Consultation

Denny looks at the tattoo, gives you the session price and explains how many sessions it is likely to need.

02

Treatment

Your appointment is around 25 minutes. The laser treatment itself may only be a portion of that time depending on the tattoo size.

03

Time between sessions

Your skin is given around 6 to 8 weeks before the next session. Rushing that gap does not make removal happen faster.

04

Check the progress

Most tattoos need 6 to 12 sessions. Denny checks the progress each time because every tattoo responds differently.

Yes, you’ll feel it.

Most people compare laser tattoo removal to repeated elastic band flicks against the skin. We will not call it painless, but the treatment itself is short and the cooling system is used to help make it more comfortable.

Aftercare

The area can feel warm and look red afterwards. You will get clear aftercare instructions on keeping the area clean, protected and comfortable while it settles.

Why do some tattoos take longer?

Ink colour, the age of the tattoo, how deeply the ink sits, the amount of pigment and your skin all influence how quickly it responds.

Fading for a cover up

You do not always need full removal. A few sessions can lighten an existing tattoo enough to give your tattoo artist more freedom with a cover up.

You can ask before you book.

Send a photo, call Denny or come in for a free consultation. She will tell you the price and what your tattoo is likely to need. There is no pressure to book anything.
